3D printing is a 'shape changer' for jewellery industry

A major jewellery manufacturer has started 3D printing - or laser sintering - its products.

Stella Layton, chief executive of Cookson Precious Metals, a division of Versuvius plc, demonstrates the company's laser sintering machine at their factory in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.

She told the BBC's Chris Vallance that the 3D printing technology would be a "shape changer" for the jewellery industry.

The technique marks a significant change in the way jewellery is produced.
