Wi-fi hotspots: Europol warn over data theft
Sensitive information should not be sent over public wi-fi hotspots, to avoid hackers stealing it, Europe's top cybercrime police officer has warned.
Troels Oerting, head of Europol's cybercrime centre, told the BBC the warning was motivated by the growing number of attacks being carried out via public wi-fi.
He said it was "difficult... to grasp the magnitude" of the problem, as "you maybe see that your credit card is being misused... but you cannot really capture where it happened."
