Cyborg glasses mimic eye gestures

A Japanese researcher has created a pair of glasses that show computer-generated eye animations.

The graphics are determined by both the wearer's movements and a Bluetooth-connected computer using a webcam and facial recognition software.

The goal is to let the kit express emotions at times when the user is too busy or tired to do so.

Prof Hirotaka Osawa from the University of Tsukuba says his AgencyGlass kit could be used by nurses, waitresses, teachers, therapists and other professions that require a lot of interaction.

For now they remain a prototype. But the professor has released a tongue-in-cheek video to show off the technology.
