Could McLaren's F1 technology make us healthier?

Ninety patients are taking part in an NHS trial to determine whether a wearable sensor is more effective at treating obesity than scheduled visits to the doctor.

Unlike most fitness tracking devices which use an accelerometer, the sensor developed by engineers at McLaren's Applied Technology labs, measures heart rate variability which tells the wearer how much they have exerted themselves.
