Bill Gates: 'We need Ebola surveillance systems'

Bill Gates says "surveillance systems" are needed to spot the signs of a disease outbreak earlier and prevent crises like the Ebola situation in West Africa.

The world's richest man said more investment in research and technology could help fight the spread of diseases.

He added that "very broken down health systems" meant Ebola could spread substantially before the scale of the problem was seen.
