Solar cycle path opens in Netherlands
A public solar cycle lane has opened in the Netherlands as part of a pilot scheme.
It is designed to capture the energy from the sun and transform it into electricity.
During the pilot, the generated energy will be supplied to the electricity grid, just like most solar panels on rooftops.
It is expected that the pilot cycle path of approximately 100m (330 ft) will generate as much electricity as is used by two to three average households annually.
Anna Holligan visited the cycle path north of Amsterdam for a closer look.
