Testing out paying by gloves

The first contactless payment gloves are being trialled in stores in the run up to Christmas.

The prototype gloves, designed by Barclaycard, contain a contactless card chip linked to a credit or debit card.

They can be used to make payments of up to £20 at 300,000 locations across the UK which accept contactless technology.

If the trial works, the gloves could go on sale in time for Christmas 2015.

But as gloves are amongst the items most easy to lose, many will be sceptical that they make for a secure way of making payments.

Rory Cellan-Jones tried them out.
