Police forces have always needed to be on top of new technology - both to monitor ways in which criminals may be exploiting it, and also to utilise new innovations for better crime-fighting.
BBC technology reporter Dave Lee was given a demonstration of some of the latest ideas, including 3D room-scanners and facial recognition devices.
