Mobile scanner detects disease from a drop of blood
A mobile scanner that can detect whether a person has Ebola, HIV or the flu virus in less than one hour has been developed.
Nanobiosym's Gene Radar decodes DNA from a drop of blood to diagnose conditions.
Nanobiosym is one of several companies, including Corgenix and Nanomix, aiming to create an "instant" test for Ebola and other viruses or diseases that could eventually replace hospital tests.
The company is waiting for approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before offering the device for sale.
