Facebook protects shopping bots against hacking threat
Facebook has rolled out the use of artificial intelligence-powered chatbots on its Messenger platform.
The technology allows people to make purchases by carrying out conversations with the bots rather than having to use a specialised app or website.
The move raises the potential for a new type of hack - breached accounts could potentially give hackers the ability to rack up large amounts of purchases.
But David Marcus, head of Messenger, said that Facebook was taking steps to prevent this.
