UK troops find Taliban 'bomb factory' in Helmand

British and Afghan soldiers have uncovered a cache of IEDs and bomb-making equipment in a village in central Helmand, on the second day of a major offensive against Taliban insurgents.

Troops from Somme Company, the 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, and the Counter-IED Taskforce carried out a controlled explosion after finding the stash.

13 Platoon Commander, Captain Brad Pino, said the mission was also about meeting local people and making sure they were happy with the soldiers' presence.

Lieutenant Amy Pennington from the Counter-IED Taskforce was part of the team which found the cahce.
