Time up for historic cathedral clock
A historic clock is to go electric because the man whose family has kept it ticking for 80 years is retiring.
The clock at Wells cathedral has been wound by hand ever since it was first made more than 600 years ago. For most of the last century that duty has fallen to one family - five generations of the Fishers.
But cathedral authorities say they cannot find a replacement for Mr Fisher so they intend to fit an electric motor.
