Cardinal's Heathrow comments 'inexplicable'

One of Pope Benedict XVI's aides has pulled out of the Papal state visit to the UK after reportedly saying arriving at Heathrow airport was like landing in a "Third World country".

Archbishop Vincent Nichols, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, described the comments by Cardinal Walter Kasper as "inexplicable", saying that the Pope would get a warm welcome from people of all races and cultures in London.
