Following the Queen's Royal Lancers

For almost a year, BBC News has been following one British Army regiment as they prepare to be sent to Afghanistan for the first time.

BBC News was granted special access to exercises involving the Queen's Royal Lancers in Norfolk, South Wales and on Salisbury Plain.

But now the exercises are over and the soldiers are doing it for real.

Danny Savage investigates how they are coping with the realities of war in Afghanistan.
