'Children in Haringey are safer now' says minister Tim Loughton

Baby Peter's death was down to the incompetence of almost every member of staff who came into contact with him, according to a serious case review.

Peter Connelly died in August 2007 at home in Haringey, north London, after months of abuse.

Children's Minister Tim Loughton said a lot of progress had been made in Haringey in the area of child protection and children are safer than before.

He added he wanted the release of the reports to bring some form of closure so everyone involved in the case could move on.
