Aung San Suu Kyi: Gordon Brown's 'great joy' at release

Gordon Brown has welcomed the release of Aung San Suu Kyi in his role as patron of Burma Campaign UK, saying it would bring "great joy... around the world".

But he added that, "until she is able to take her rightful place as leader of her political party... nobody will think Burma has had free and fair elections".

Prime Minister David Cameron also said the release was "long overdue", saying her detention had been a "travesty".
