Snow and cold cause disruption across northern Europe

Freezing temperatures and heavy snow are causing disruption across northern Europe, including Britain, France, Germany and Austria.

Roads, railways and airports have been badly affected by the early harsh weather, thought to have been caused by unusually cold air over large parts of the eastern Atlantic.
