What to look for in mistletoe, and how to harvest it

Whether at the office Christmas party or a spiritual Druid ceremony, mistletoe plays an important part for many at this time of year.

But the National Trust says it could be under threat, as its favoured environment - the cider orchards of Somerset, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire - disappears rapidly.

Jeremy Cooke visited the British mistletoe belt to find out more about the plant, and to try his hand at harvesting it.
