'Students are being attacked by police' says protester

A student leader has claimed that students are being "attacked by police" for "exercising their democratic right to protest".

Protester Simon Hardy said Thursday's rally against the rise in University tuition fees in England was a good natured demonstration until the police "started to kettle it".

Speaking at a University of London Union news conference, the protester said that students were right to "defend themselves".
