Police say Joanna Yeates was strangled

Police investigating the death of the Bristol landscape architect Joanna Yeates have said she died from strangulation.

A murder inquiry has now been launched.

Her body was found near Bristol on Christmas Day.

The Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Phil Jones, appealed to anyone with information about what had happened to come forward.
