Derby sex gang leaders jailed

Two men who subjected young girls to sexual assaults, described by a judge as a "reign of terror", have been given indefinite prison sentences.

Mohammed Liaqat, 28, and Abid Saddique, 27, were the ringleaders of a gang in the Derby area who attacked girls as young as 12.

Many of the gang's victims were given alcohol or drugs before being forced to have sex in cars, rented houses or hotels across the Midlands.

Saddique was jailed for at least 11 years and Liaqat for a minimum of eight.

Speaking outside Nottingham Crown Court Det Supt Debbie Platt of Derbyshire Police gave her reaction to the sentences.
