Defence Cuts: 2,600 Navy and Army posts to go

More than 2,500 members of the army and Royal Navy will lose their jobs in the first round of redundancies announced today.

Many of the redundancies will be compulsory.

It is just the first step in the government's plan to make savings over the next five years.
