Pc David Rathband's life changed dramatically last July when he was shot and blinded by gunman Raoul Moat, but he now intends to run the London Marathon.

He will be joined in the race by his colleague Pc Gareth Rees, whose legs were broken when he was hit by a car while attending an accident in 2008.

The pair will be among around 30,000 runners taking part in the event on Sunday 17 April.
