The Queen attends Maundy Thursday service at Westminster Abbey

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have attended the traditional Maundy Thursday Service at Westminster Abbey in London.

The Monarch, who is celebrating her 85th birthday, distributed Maundy money to 85 men and 85 women.

Each recipient is being recognised for their service to the church and the community. The Queen traditionally gives Maundy money to as many men and as many women as the years of her life.

It was the first time the Queen's birthday had fallen on Maundy Thursday, Buckingham Palace said.
