Police announcement is a 're-hash' says Police Federation

Proposals aimed at reducing police bureaucracy have been announced by Home Secretary Theresa May.

They would allow police officers rather than the Crown Prosecution Service to decide whether to press charges in up to 80% of cases, with some people being charged by post.

But chairman of the Police Federation, Paul McKeever, has said the reforms do not go far enough on addressing the cuts announced by the government.
