Former police officer in Payne case alleges hacking

A former police officer who worked on the investigation into the murder of Sarah Payne has told BBC News his phone may have been hacked by the News of the World.

Martyn Underhill worked as a detective chief inspector with Sussex Police and was in charge of liaising with the murdered girl's mother.

He said he was approached by a senior executive from the newspaper in 2002 and has now contacted police officers involved in the phone hacking inquiry.
