Mirror papers used Southern Investigations

The judge leading the inquiry into the phone hacking scandal, Lord Justice Leveson, has said he will examine wider press ethics in relation to the public, politicians and police.

He will also look at how newspapers use private investigators.

The BBC has learned that a controversial firm of private detectives, Southern Investigations, was employed by the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror on more than 200 occasions from 1997 to 1999.
