Police: 'We've got to nip this in the bud'

Police have come under fire over the way they have handled the riots in London.

About 6,000 police officers were on duty in London on Monday with some looting apparently going unhindered.

Sir Hugh Orde, president of the Association of Chief Police Officers told the BBC police are trying "their level best to contained what is the unexplained and unprecedented levels of violence in London".
