Why do some school pupils play truant?

The government says it is worried about the rising truancy rates in England's schools, as figures show that nearly half million children have missed the equivalent of one month of lessons in the past year.

BBC Radio 5 live Drive has been speaking to some pupils in Lancashire about some of the reasons they play truant.

Charles Taylor, the government advisor on discipline who is leading a review of ways of tackling truancy will be speaking to BBC Radio 5 live on Wednesday 16:00-19:00.
