200 year old tree is core to National Apple Day celebrations
It is one of the lesser known national days, but 21st October is National Apple Day.
At the centre of the 2011 celebrations is the Nottinghamshire village of Southwell which is home to the original 200 year old Bramley apple tree.
Every single Bramley apple that has been eaten and every single Bramley tree that has been planted, comes from the Southwell tree.
As one of the most extraordinary trees in existence, it now attracts visitors from around the world.
In his report the BBC's James Roberson spoke to the current owner of the original Bramley tree, Nancy Harrison and Roger Merryweather, the great grandson of the Nurseryman who tended to the tree.
