Fifa rejects plea for England players to wear poppies

Fifa has rejected an appeal from the FA to allow England players to wear poppies on their shirts for the friendly match against Spain on Saturday.

The FA had made a special request for permission to make the gesture to support Remembrance Day.

But Fifa rejected it on the grounds that they felt it might jeopardise the neutrality of the sport.

Keith Doyle reports.
