Supreme court rules on couple's property rights

A man who left his partner 18 years ago has been told he is not entitled to half the value of the house they shared.

The Supreme Court has overturned an earlier judgement granting Leonard Kernott 50% of the value of the house he shared with Patricia Jones, saying he will only be entitled to 10%.

That is because Mr Kernott has not contributed to the mortgage since he moved out.

Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire spoke to Patricia Jones's lawyer, Ivan Sampson.
