Unemployment rises sharply to more than 2.64m

Unemployment has risen sharply to more than 2.64 million.

Women and young people are the worst affected, with the jobs created in the private sector dwarfed by those lost in the public sector.

There is some good news - Morrisons Supermarkets will open 25 new stores next year, creating more than 7,000 new jobs.
