Former NoW journalist defends book

The Leveson Inquiry into press ethics has been hearing from a former News of the World reporter who wrote a book based on her time as a tabloid journalist.

Sharon Marshall was questioned extensively about incidents in her book Tabloid Girl. She insisted that the book was not factual, but was meant to be "a good yarn".

Questioned about an incident in the book in which a reporter obtained a story about a celebrity by sleeping with her friend, she described it as "pub gossip", which she had given "top-spin".
