Odds on the news: What might happen in 2012?

The past year has been one of the busiest for news in recent memory, with the Arab spring, earthquakes in Japan and New Zealand, the wedding of Kate Middleton to Prince William and the phone hacking scandal being just some of the stories making the headlines.

But with the London Olympics, presidential elections in the US, France and Russia, Euro 2012 and the continuing search for the elusive Higgs boson particle, 2012 could be just as eventful.

From the announcement of a Royal birth to the likelihood of a baby panda at Edinburgh Zoo, Coral bookmakers' David Stevens gave BBC News the odds on some of the things that may happen over the next 12 months.
