Michael Mansfield QC: Police 'slow to collect evidence'

Eighteen years after the racist killing of the black teenager Stephen Lawrence, two men have been found guilty of his murder.

Gary Dobson and David Norris had both denied being part of a racist white gang who stabbed the student in a London street in 1993.

During the trial at the Old Bailey, the jurors heard that blood, hair and fibres linked to the student were found on clothes seized from the homes of both men.

Michael Mansfield QC, who has represented Mr Lawrence's parents since 1995, said the police were slow in collecting evidence.
