Town council prayer ruling 'rather sad'
A town council in Devon is breaking the law by having prayers at the start of its meetings, the High Court has ruled.
The National Secular Society brought the case against Bideford Town Council after atheist councillor Clive Bone complained.
Simon Calvert of the Christian Institute, which supported Bideford Town Council, told Robert Pigott he felt the ruling would encourage "a campaign group that wants to push religion and the Christian faith from public life".
