Farmers worried about effects of drought in regions of the UK

Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman is hosting a drought summit as parts of England struggle with groundwater levels lower than in 1976.

She has invited water companies, farmers and wildlife groups to discuss the situation in south-east England, East Anglia and the East Midlands.

Andrew Brown, regional chairman of the National Farmers Union, told the BBC he would like to see a national grid of water pipe networks, to enable water to be brought from the west to the east.

Mark Worthington reports from Pitsford Reservoir.
