Condon warns Leveson of 'bureaucratic over-reaction'

Former Met Commissioner Sir Paul Condon has warned against a "massive bureaucratic over-reaction" in how police record their dealings with the media in the wake of the Leveson Inquiry into press standards.

Appearing at the inquiry, Lord Condon, who was Metropolitan Police Commissioner between 1993 and 2000, said there had to be clear rules of engagement for the police's dealings with journalists.
