Afghan deaths 'should not detract from mission'

The families of the UK soldiers killed by a bomb in southern Afghanistan have being paying tribute to their fallen "hero" sons.

The six men were killed when their Warrior armoured vehicle was hit by a huge Taliban bomb.

Those who died have been named as Sergeant Nigel Coupe, Corporal Jake Hartley, Private Anthony Frampton, Private Christopher Kershaw, Private Daniel Wade, and Private Daniel Wilford.

It takes the total number of British military personnel killed in Afghanistan since 2001 to 404 and has prompted fresh questions about the purpose of the British presence in Afghanistan

Colonel Stuart Tootal who commanded a battalion in Helmand told BBC Breakfast that a British presence in Afghanistan should continue.
