Falklands War: Thatcher announces task force

Margaret Thatcher announces that a task force of more than 100 ships will be sent to the Falklands.

Labour leader Michael Foot says Britain is right to want to take action, saying the people of the Falkland Islands "are faced with an act of naked, unqualified aggression, carried out in the most shameful and disreputable circumstances."

A day later, aircraft carriers HMS Hermes and HMS Invincible lead the fleet setting sail from Portsmouth.
