IPCC urges evidence law changes

The law needs to be changed so fuller details can be revealed in cases where people die at the hands of police officers, the IPCC has said.

The call comes after it emerged that an inquest into the death of Mark Duggan may never be held because sensitive police material has to be kept secret.

A former independent reviewer of anti-terrorism legislation, Liberal Democrat peer Lord Carlile, told the BBC there needed to be "more flexibility in the law".

"If it is neccessary and in the interests of justice... then there should be greater transparency."
