Jack Straw accused of rendition by Libyan military figure

The BBC has learnt that a Libyan military commander is taking legal action against former Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, claiming he was handed over to Colonel Gaddafi's forces in 2004 illegally in a process called 'rendition.'

Abdul Hakim Belhadj, who was believed at the time to have links to Al Qaeda, says he was tortured as a result.

It is the first time legal action of this kind has been taken against such a senior politician. Mr Straw has yet to comment.
