Leveson: James Murdoch questioned over PM and BSkyB bid

Former News International chairman James Murdoch has been giving evidence at the Leveson Inquiry into press standards.

Mr Murdoch was questioned over his contact with politicians before and during News Corp's bid for the remaining shares in BSkyB.

He said he had discussed the bid with David Cameron at the home of former News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks on 23 December 2010.

However, he described the discussion as "a tiny side-conversation ahead of a dinner", and denied the purpose was to find out where the prime minister stood on the fate of the bid.
