Brown son health leak claims 'inaccurate'

The former News of the World editor, Phil Hall, has said that Gordon Brown's claim, made to the Leveson Inquiry, that the Sun story about his son's cystic fibrosis came from a medical source, was "completely inaccurate".

Speaking on BBC Radio 4's The World At One, Mr Hall said that Mr Brown's assertion that he did not use his special political advisers to feed damaging stories about his colleagues and rivals to the press "defies belief".

A News International spokesperson told the BBC: "We welcome the fact that NHS Fife have today said that they believe there was 'no inappropriate access' to the medical records of Gordon Brown's son. The Sun stands by previous statements issued on the matter."
