Close friend of Julian Assange says he is fearful for his life

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is facing extradition from Britain to Sweden over alleged sex crimes but his close friend and former landlord Vaughan Smith told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire that he "feared for his life and freedom".

He has taken refuge at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London where he has applied for political asylum.

The Metropolitan Police says Mr Assange has breached his bail conditions and is subject to arrest.
