Taxis halt traffic on Tower Bridge in Olympic protest

Hundreds of taxi drivers have staged a noisy protest on Tower Bridge, to voice their anger at road restrictions being enforced during the London Olympic Games.

The demonstrators believe they should be able to drive in special Olympic lanes - which are reserved for the use of officials and athletes.

The BBC's Philippa Thomas was at the scene and spoke to Len Martin, of taxi drivers' union United Cabbie Group.

Mr Martin said that the drivers were not trying to cause mass disruption, but would continue their campaign in the coming days.
