IOC: 'Empty seats are a small teething problem'

Mark Adams, the spokesman for the President of the International Olympic Committee Jacque Rogge, has said that empty seats in Olympic venues are a "small teething problem".

Empty seats were seen at the Aquatics Centre, Wimbledon, the Basketball Arena, the volleyball at Earl's Court and the gymnastics at the O2 on Saturday.

Locog said it was investigating the empty seats which were believed to have been for accredited groups such as media and governing bodies.

Mr Adams told the BBC that the IOC was "getting to grips" with the problem. He also said that Mr Rogge enjoyed the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
