Pioneering UK scientist Sir Bernard Lovell dies at 98

Sir Bernard Lovell, the pioneer of radio astronomy in Britain, has died, aged 98.

For 30 years, he was the director of Jodrell Bank in Cheshire, the site of the radio telescope which became famous around the world and set the pattern for the many observatories that followed.
