London Olympic Games bow out with a bang

A spectacular show celebrating London, and British music, has closed the 2012 Olympics Games.

Centre stage were the thousands of athletes whose endeavours have lit up the Games over the past 16 days.

Following a series of high profile musical performances, the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, formally handed the Olympic flag over to his counterpart from Rio de Janeiro - the host city for the 2016 Games.

London's organising Chairman, Lord Coe, told the athletes and spectators it had been a "wonderful Games in a wonderful city".
